HEAD TO TAILS for something better than doggie daycare…

TAILS DAY CAMP is a great place for your pup to burn off energy while he learns to play well with others, develops impulse control and practices good manners. At day camp your dog will socialize in small groups in controlled play sessions. He will also have one-on-one time with the Tails staff, playing games, learning manners, taking walks and enjoying quiet time. New puppies have their own program to insure they get off to a great start. Class size is limited so that each pup gets the attention that they need.

TAILS DAY SCHOOL Are you unable to attend classes yourself? Is your busy schedule making it hard to find time to train? Does your dog have a behavioral issue that you need help with? Could your dog just use a little extra training? Tails Day School may be your answer. While your dog is attending Day Camp, you can choose to have a Tails trainer work with your dog on a customized training plan to include anything from the basic good manners like sit, down, stay, come and polite walking, to solving behavioral problems or training advanced concepts. You will receive updates on your dog's progress and have short scheduled sessions where you will learn the skills necessary to maintain his good behavior.

The following requirements for acceptance exist for the health, safety, and comfort of your dog and other dogs in our care:
(See Application Packet for full Policies and Procedures.)

  • Spay/Neuter: Tails-U-Win! requires that dogs over the age of 10 months be spayed or neutered in order to participate in our Day Camp program. Unaltered dogs may still participate in our Day School program at the discretion of one of our staff trainers.
  • Age/Size: Each dog will be evaluated by our staff to determine whether their age and size is appropriate for interaction with our other Day Camp clients. They may still be able to participate in the Day School program.
  • Vaccinations: Dogs must be vaccinated against Rabies and Bordetella and be up to date on the vaccine protocol prescribed by your veterinarian. If your dog has never had a particular vaccination, vaccination must have been administered a minimum of 48 hours prior to attendance at Tails-U-Win!. Bordetella must be administered a week in advance.
  • Documented proof of current vaccinations must be on file prior to attendance. (Rabies tag will not be an acceptable form of proof.) Dogs that fall out-of-date with vaccinations after initial acceptance will not be allowed to attend further until brought up to date with submitted documentation.
  • Overall Health: Dogs who have been ill or injured within the past 30 days may be required to submit a certificate of health or letter of clearance from a veterinarian prior to attending. Additionally, dogs exhibiting signs of distress, restricted movement, labored breathing, or other symptoms of concern may require veterinary clearance prior to attending.
  • Please do not bring your dog in if he/she is vomiting, has diarrhea, or is otherwise under the weather. After acceptance, please advise Tails-U-Win! of any changes in your dog’s health or medication, even if medications will not be administered at our facility.
  • Behavior: Dogs must interact with people and other dogs in a safe and non-threatening manner. While Day Camp is an excellent way to socialize your dog, it is not an appropriate place for aggressive or severely under-socialized animals. While all dogs are screened upon applying for attendance at Tails-U-Win!, it is impossible to determine an animal’s potential reactions to innumerable situations that it may encounter in our care.
  • Tails-U-Win! reserves the right to refuse or discontinue admittance to any animal we may feel is inappropriate for attendance at our facility. Further, at our discretion, Tails-U-Win! may limit your dog’s interaction with other animals and may in other ways limit your dog’s activities while in our care if it is necessary to do so for the safety of your dog or other dogs in our care. Owners will be notified of any such issues should they arise.
  • Orientation Day: Upon receipt of a complete application packet and required documents, all dogs will attend a first-day orientation and screening period to assess suitability. On this first visit, your pet will be temperament-tested and monitored for adjustment to the environment and interaction with staff and other animals. Successful adjustment during the orientation day will determine the final acceptance of your application

** If your dog will be enrolled in Day School, in addition to Orientation Day it is required that you attend the Family Dog I or Puppy-K introduction class held the first night of any session at Tails. This class explains and demonstrates the training methods used. This class is without your dog and the fee is $20. This requirement is waived for Tails students who have already been through a Family Dog I or Puppy-K class.
