Taylor Lima, CPDT-KA, CTDI
Taylor got her start in dog training at the age of 12 when her parents adopted a young Black Lab mix that had practically every behavioral problem in the book. Since Taylor begged her parents to get the dog, she got the responsibility of training her and quickly fell in love with dog training.
Taylor has been working with dogs in a professional setting for about 10 years. After apprenticing under two different veteran trainers, she was offered a position working with well-known trainer Kris Crestejo of Modern Canine Training. While working at Modern Canine, Taylor became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Certified Trick Dog Instructor. In 2017, she started her own dog walking business working exclusively with reactive dogs, and eventually expanded her services to offer both private and group dog training classes.
When she relocated back to her home state of Connecticut after living in Vancouver for five years, she eagerly asked to join the Tails team and was elated to be offered a position as a trainer.
Taylor has competed with her dogs in lure coursing and nose work, and has completed the Trick Dog Champion title with her terrier mix, Finley. She is currently training with her Golden Retriever, Chester, to compete in agility, obedience, rally, dock diving, and nose work. Taylor still has a passion for working with behavioral cases, and is about to complete her Certified Dog Behavior Consultant status with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. She considers herself a true dog nerd, and tries to attend every workshop, conference, and seminar she can. Taylor is also a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and the Pet Professional Guild. She is also a Canine Good Citizen & Trick Dog evaluator with the AKC.
She and her husband share their home with four dogs- a German Shepherd, two terrier mixes, and a golden retriever.
