Day Training Program Policies
Our programs are all designed to be personalized and custom-tailored to you and your dog's unique needs. Due to this, the spaces are very limited. For all programs, we do recommend contacting us via email or on the phone to enroll your dog. Any diet restrictions must be communicated in advance.
Please bring the following with you to your day training program, each day, for your dog:
Collar (flat or martingale - no e-collars, chokes, or prongs)
Leash (4' to 6' - no chain or retractable, flexi-lead, etc)
A blanket or bed
At least one favorite toy
At least one chew.
At least 2+ cups of treats - preferably something soft and chewy. Below is an example of what to bring, and size of the treats. The items below are chicken, pork, steak, Pet Fresh sausage snacks, and meatballs.
Feed your dog only 1/2 breakfast if a very food motivated dog. If your dog doesn't necessarily like food or is selective, skip breakfast prior to drop-off.
Payment is required at time of enrollment. We accept Check, Cash, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and American Express. There is a $20 fee for all returned checks. A nonrefundable deposit of $375 is required for our Great Expectations Puppy Academy if more than a week before starting the program. Full payment is required at least 7 days prior to the start of the program.
Refunds can be accommodated if we receive notification at least 2 days before the start of training [Jumpstart and Day School] or 7 days prior for the Great Expectations Puppy Academy. Notifications of cancellation should be sent to email@example.com. The $375 deposit for Great Expectations Puppy Academy is non-refundable.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
In order to provide the best experience for your dog at school we carefully plan our week to insure we have enough instructors available for each day. We only accept a limited number of dogs and we often have dogs waiting for an available spot.
If you must reschedule a school day we ask that you notify us at the Tails office at least 48 hours in advance. If less than 48 hours notice is provided, the training day will be forfeited if we are unable to schedule another dog in your dog's place. Cancellation must be received in writing via e-mail to the office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
*Note: In the event of Tails cancelling due to weather or any other reason, the day is not forfeited and you may reschedule your date.
Early Drop Off
We have early drop off between Monday - Friday, between 7:30 AM and 9 AM that must be scheduled in advance.
We do require a free evaluation prior to your dog attending our programs if over 6 months of age. The evaluation is free.
In order to be eligible for the day training programs, your dog must be okay with being crated for short periods of time, and must be friendly with people. Fearful or shy dogs are accepted, but must be evaluated in advance to determine if the program is ideal for their training needs.
We welcome all friendly dogs, whether they are altered or not. Female dogs in season may attend, but must wear panties.
Pick-Up & Private Lessons
Private lessons are scheduled at time of enrollment and will occur on the last day of your dog's package if enrolled in the 5 day package. Each day your dog attends you will receive handouts, daily report cards, and video tutorials to work on the behaviors your pup is learning in school. The Academy private lessons are scheduled in advance and are 45-60 minutes in length. Jumpstart does not include a private lesson, but instead a detailed report card.
We have an amazing and experienced staff that work hard and are dedicated to providing the best care and training to your dog. To encourage and promote generalization with the behaviors your dog will be working on, we do not accept trainer requests. We carefully select our staff. They are all exceptionally qualified. If you have feedback regarding your experience (both positive or otherwise), we encourage you to contact the Director of Training and owner of Tails-U-Win!, Leslie at email@example.com.
